Perhaps your playing days are over, but you still want to be involved in a local community that has a shared interest in cricket. Volunteering at your local club could be for you!
Clubs are always looking for volunteers, and there is likely a role for someone with your skill set.

Why Volunteer?
Volunteering is all about making a difference in your community; it also benefits you personally as it offers the chance to:

- Make new friendships
- Learn new skills
Just a few hours of volunteer work can make a difference to your happiness and mood!
Be a Committee Member
There are many and varied committee roles, including President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, or General Committee Member.
These roles work together to provide governance for a club, ensuring smooth operations, making decisions that contribute to the success of the club and ensuring statutory obligations are met.
It is possible that skills you have learned outside of a cricket environment could be of use by a successful club.
Be a Team Manager
A Team Manager ensures that cricket teams are well prepared for their matches. Team Managers are usually good at logistics.
Typical duties include:
- Entering teams into the admin system
- Ensuring the right equipment is available for players and is in good working order (including practice balls and match balls)
- Being aware of location of first aid kits
- Ensuring that appropriate hydration supplies are available for players
- Ensure access is available to club/change rooms
Be a Scorer
A cricket scorer is required to keep an accurate record of what happens in a match – capturing runs scored, balls bowled and wickets taken. Good scorers generally have the ability to pay attention to detail and can concentrate for extended periods. They are required to score manually in a scorebook and to use electronic scoring systems. Generally a scorer will need to commit to being available for the duration of the day’s play – up to 6 hours on any given day.
Be a PlayHQ Administrator
A cricket system administrator is generally someone who is computer literate and can problem solve when issues occur.
PlayHQ is the system used by GCA to manage all of cricket in Geelong, including player registrations, team selections, fixturing, ladders and results.
A PlayHQ administrator would generally be required to commit to about 5 – 10 hours per week
