Preparations for season 2025/26 are well underway and I’m sure we’re all looking forward to the start of the season in October.

GCA Board 2025/26
GCA Board elections for the 2025/26 season occurred at the Annual Meeting convened in early August with the following outcomes:
- President: Rob Vines
- Vice President: Sam Hall
- Secretary: Peter Edwards
- Treasurer: David Yelland
- Men’s Competition Chair: Tom Levick
- Women’s Competition Chair: Miki Monahan
- Junior Boys Competition Chair: Werner Weigl
- Junior Girls Competition Chair: Vacant
- Umpires Committee Chair: David Stacey
- General Board Member: Damien Harwood
The Board has the authority under the GCA constitution to appoint a candidate for the vacant Junior Girls Competition Chair position once a suitable nomination is determined.
New Cricket Operations Manager
I recently announced the appointment of Daniel Breen as the GCA Cricket Operations Manager effective from July 2025, and he has hit the ground running in his new role. Daniel is the primary contact for cricket operations matters and queries relating the senior men’s and women’s competitions. Michael ‘Molly’ Moulton will be continuing as the junior boy’s competition operations manager.
Competition Updates
Important changes have been made during the off season to the GCA Men’s competition format and playing conditions and to the club assessment model which determines club movement between divisions.
These changes have followed considerable deliberations by the Men’s competition Committee in consultation with clubs, and I particularly extend my thanks to the clubs that provided constructive feedback throughout the process.
The GCA Board and its Committees believe the format and playing conditions changes will continue to improve the quality of the men’s competitions.
The club assessment model changes respond to feedback gathered over recent seasons about the need to simplify the current system and in turn, provide greater transparency about the ranking of clubs for movement between divisions. The updated assessment now places a higher emphasis on on-field performance to ensure clubs are placed in the most appropriate men’s competitions.
The rapid growth of the senior women’s competition has been both positive and challenging in terms of balancing the needs for both competitive and more socially oriented cricket opportunities. The senior women’s committee continue to work with clubs and players on evolving the formats, playing regulations and structures of the senior women’s competitions to maximise the opportunities for all participants.
The Junior boy’s and girl’s committees are undergoing some positive transition and continue to explore opportunities to enhance the junior competitions.
